What is
phosphatidylcholine (PC)?

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is a phospholipid that is a key component of cell membranes and participates in lipid metabolism. In aesthetic medicine, it is used in injectable lipolytic formulations, often combined with deoxycholate, to target localized fat deposits

How phosphatidylcholine (PC)
works in injection lipolysis

How it works in injections
Operating principle image 1
1

Destroys the membranes of fat cells (adipocytes), causing the release and breakdown of fats.

Operating principle image 2
2

Fat is removed from the body through the lymphatic system.

3

Locally reduces the volume of adipose tissue in problem areas: thighs, buttocks, abdomen, chin.

Cosmetic effect
1

Visually improves skin texture at the injection site.

2

The effect depends on the injection site, dosage, injection technique, and individual characteristics of the patient.

Metabolized in the liver and excreted from the body

Process description

After being injected into the subcutaneous tissue, the solution interacts with fat cells, destroying them and turning them into an emulsion (breaking down fat cells into small particles), causing an inflammatory reaction at the site of application. Once it enters the body’s macrophages and is transported to the liver through the lymphatic system, the solution breaks down into carbon dioxide and water and is then excreted from the body, providing a local modeling effect suitable for small superficial fat deposits.

Process description

Fat cells are spherical cells whose fat content is enclosed in a membrane, similar to a water balloon. Lipids make up the bulk of the cell membrane, and when it comes into contact with lipolytic mixtures, it bursts like a burst water balloon. The contents of the fat cell are then absorbed by the body. It is then transported to the liver, from where it is excreted through the intestines.

Supporting Liver Health with Essential Phospholipids

The liver plays a vital role in metabolism, detoxification, and overall health. Various factors, including poor diet, alcohol consumption, medications, and certain medical conditions, can place additional stress on liver cells and affect their normal function. Supporting liver health is an important part of maintaining overall well-being.

Essential phospholipids are widely used as part of liver support therapy and may help maintain the structural integrity of liver cell membranes. If you would like to learn more about the role of phospholipids and how this treatment supports liver function, you can find detailed information on our “Liver Health & Treatment” page.
